Hi, guys, I’m Kimberly Farr. I am on the Well Optix SCADA team at SPOC Automation. I wanted to take a minute just to discuss the importance of SCADA and remote monitoring of your sites, especially during times like we currently are facing. As you can see, I am currently working from home and I know that a lot of you guys are too.

And I’m sure that a lot of you guys are working with skeleton crews and you are finding it difficult to manage every single one of your fields, especially if they are super far away. Maybe your offices are in Houston, but your fields are in Illinois or they’re out in California.

Maybe you find it difficult to find the manpower to actually go out and visit those well-sites — to make sure they are in tip-top shape or to ensure they don’t need attention and even new equipment.

A lot of you are relying on SCADA. I have talked to so many companies recently that find SCADA to be a very, very big necessity. Where they used to have their pumper go and visit every single site, every single day — they can’t do that right now. So, they’re relying on their SCADA system to make sure that everything’s in normal working condition. And if something is not or if there is a site that needs immediate attention, they can send a crew out to work on that site immediately.

Those producers are not waiting 24 hours to act, while things continue to be in a hazardous condition or hardware is continuing to fail. They are able to remotely stop that equipment and make changes. They’re making changes through their SCADA system or they’re shutting the pump off and then sending someone to the site to make the repairs. SCADA used to be considered a luxury, but now is considered very much a necessity.
